The Best Strapless Bras, Chosen by Construction
A strapless bra is a physics problem: everything the straps did must now come from the band and the side structure. That is why most strapless failures are size failures, and why the right construction matters more here than in any other category.
Choosing by construction
The band carries one hundred percent of the load, so most strapless designs run their bands deliberately tight. ThirdLove's own chart notes its Classic Strapless runs tight in the band and advises sizing the band up, a rare printed admission of the pattern.
Look for a wide band with silicone gripper elastic top and bottom, side boning that stops the band folding, and on deeper cups a longline shape: more torso contact means less slippage.
Cup depth changes the answer. Above a DD, molded one-piece strapless cups run out of engineering; seamed strapless cups with side support, the specialty of the UK full-bust houses, hold shape where foam cannot.
Brands to look at
| Brand | Why they are on this list | Charted size span |
|---|---|---|
| Curvy Kate | Full-bust strapless is a house specialty; their dossier covers strapless work in deep cups on UK sizing | 28–44, D–K (UK) · chart |
| ThirdLove | Their own chart flags the Classic Strapless as tight in the band with a size-up note, which we quote on their page | 30–48, AA–H (US) · chart |
| Panache | UK engineering with wide, firm bands; the construction profile strapless depends on | 28–46, D–K (UK) · chart |
| Bravissimo | Full-bust range built around band-first support, the exact requirement strapless amplifies | 28–40, D–K (UK) · chart |
| Wacoal | Broad US range with structured band architecture across sizes | 30–46, A–H (US) · chart |
Every brand here is one whose published sizing and construction we document; the reason column states what our dossier records, not sponsorship. Size spans come from each brand's own chart.

Strapless, answered
Should I size down in the band for strapless?
Usually no. Buy your measured band; strapless designs already run their bands firm, and at least one brand chart says so in print. If the band still slips on the loosest hook, the sister size down is the next test.
Can larger cups wear strapless?
Yes, with the right construction: seamed cups, side support and longline bands. The UK full-bust houses build strapless past a G. Molded strapless cups above a DD are where most disappointment lives.
Why does my strapless slide down?
Almost always a band that is too big for a bra with no straps to hide it. Check the band tests first; the band guide linked above walks the diagnosis.
