DDD Cup Size
A DDD cup is a bust measurement 6 inches larger than the band. That is all a cup letter says: which is why a DDD cup on a 30 band and a DDD cup on a 40 band are very different bras.
What is a DDD cup?
A DDD cup means the fullest bust measurement is 6 inches (≈ 15 cm) larger than the underbust band. In UK sizing the same 6-inch difference is written E; in EU sizing F. It is not a fixed volume: the volume a DDD cup holds grows with the band it sits on.
Same letter, nine volumes. A 28DDD and a 44DDD are both “DDD cups”: the second holds several times the volume of the first.

The DDD cup, in numbers
Volume is the pairing, not the letter. On a 34 band a DDD cup holds the same as a 32G and a 36DD: one letter away on the neighbouring bands. Read across any sister row and the letters change while the volume doesn't.
Is a DDD cup big?
Only in relation to a band: a DDD cup (UK E, EU F) is a full-bust cup on most bands and the point where full-bust specialists take over from mainstream ranges.
The honest way to talk about size is the pair (32DDD, 36DDD, 40DDD) because the letter measures a difference, not an amount. This is also why sister sizes exist: move down a band and up a letter and the volume stays the same.
Key takeaway: “DDD cup” describes a 6-inch difference. Volume depends on the band; the letter alone is not big or small.

Wearing a DDD cup on a band that rides up?
The old +4 rule inflates the band by four inches and understates the cup by two letters. If you were sized that way, your DDD cup is probably really a H cup on a smaller band.
| If a +4 chart said | Snug-measure size is likely | Same volume? |
|---|---|---|
| 32DDD | 28H | Yes: the band supports instead of the straps |
| 34DDD | 30H | Yes: the band supports instead of the straps |

| 38DDD | 34H | Yes: the band supports instead of the straps |
| 40DDD | 36H | Yes: the band supports instead of the straps |
DDD cup in UK, EU and other systems
6″ difference. US brands sometimes write DDD as F.
The UK writes this E; the UK alphabet runs D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H. Full-bust specialists (Panache, Freya, Curvy Kate) label in UK letters.
The EU continues the alphabet, one letter per inch, so this is F. FR, IT, DE and JP use EU cup letters.

Bra styles that fit a DDD cup
Full cups need structure: three-part seamed cups, side-support panels and a balconette or full-cup shape hold and lift better than a single molded piece. Look for wider, cushioned straps and a three-hook band. Plunge styles work if the center gore is tall enough to sit flat.
Frame like a 28 band, also look for narrower wires and shorter straps The same DDD cup is deeper and narrower here.
The widest choice of styles at this cup. Molded for a smooth line, seamed for shape and lift.
The DDD cup is wider and shallower; prioritise a firm, wide band and a wire that fully encloses the root. Longline and three-hook styles help.
Shape matters as much as size: see the fit guide for the five breast shapes and the constructions that suit each.
DDD cup: answered
How big is a DDD cup?
A DDD cup is a bust 6 inches (15 cm) larger than the band. Its volume depends on the band: a 30DDD is far smaller than a 40DDD.
What is a DDD cup in UK sizing?
A US DDD cup is a UK E cup: the UK alphabet diverges above DD (DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H).
What is a DDD cup in European sizing?
A US DDD cup is an EU F cup. EU letters continue the alphabet one letter per inch above D.
What is the difference between a DDD cup and a G cup?

Is a 34DDD the same as a 36DD?
They are sister sizes: the same cup volume on a band two inches longer. The 36DD will feel looser in the band and offer less support.
What measurements make a DDD cup?
Any bust measurement 6 inches above the snug underbust. Examples: underbust 31″ / bust 38″ → 32DDD; underbust 35″ / bust 42″ → 36DDD.
