The Best High-Impact Sports Bras, by Size Logic
High-impact support is not one product. It is a size question first: compression works for smaller volumes, encapsulation becomes necessary as cup depth grows, and the crossover point is roughly where the letters pass D.
Choosing by construction
Compression styles press tissue against the chest wall and are sized S to XL, which works when there is less volume to control. Past a D cup, compression alone flattens without controlling movement.
Encapsulation styles hold each breast in its own engineered cup, in real band-and-cup sizes. That is why serious sports ranges from full-bust houses are bra-sized, and why our impact-level sizing guide keys on your regular size.
Shock Absorber's published fitting rule rounds boundary band measurements up to the next even size, a documented quirk we record on their page; expect their fitter to land you on the larger band.

High impact, answered
Compression or encapsulation?
Volume decides. Up to about a D, good compression controls movement. Past it, encapsulation in your real size does what compression cannot; our impact-level guide maps activity to construction.
Is my sports bra size my regular size?
In bra-sized sports ranges, yes: start from your measured size. In S-to-XL compression, the letter on your regular bra still matters because it tells you whether compression can work for you at all.
Why does high-impact feel tight?
It should feel firmer than an everyday band, but firm and painful are different sizes. If the cup fits and the band digs on the loosest hook, take the looser sister size.
